Outstanding Ofsted Report - August 2023

We are delighted to announce that we have been given the rating of Outstanding in all areas by Ofsted following our recent inspection on 30th June 2023.

The exemplary report, which can be read in full on the Ofsted website, is a testament to the hard work and dedication shown by all the staff at Pilton Pre-school. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us, in particular our amazing Committee and all the families - past and present - whose children have attended here. We hope to continue to provide Outstanding care to our children for many more years to come.

Co-op Local Community Fund

Pilton Pre-school has been lucky enough to be part of the @Coopuk Local Community Fund since October 2021. Your support raised an amazing £1,379.40 last year which, together with our 2022 Magic Little Grant and grant from Somerset Community Foundation has fully paid for our Forest School leader training and enabled us to offer Forest School and Yoga free to parents for the whole 2021/22 year and now for the 2022/23 year too.

We have been chosen again for this coming year (to 21 October 2023) to be a Local Cause again, which hopefully will mean we can continue to provide our enrichment activities free to parents and also improve our Forest School area and resources. We need your help though to achieve this! Funds are raised by our parents and supporters signing up to be a Co-op member, choosing us as their cause and - most importantly!! - scanning their card every time they shop at the Co-op here in Pilton or other participating stores such as Evercreech.

Magic Little Grants 2022 - Yoga

In July 2022, we received a Magic Little Grant through the partnership between Localgiving and Postcode Local Trust.

Postcode Local Trust is a grant-giving charity funded by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Localgiving is the UK’s leading membership and support network for local charities and community groups. Our project received £500 to help deliver Yoga sessions within the setting.

We are grateful to Magic Little Grants, Local Giving, Postcode Local Trust and the players of the People's Postcode Lottery for helping us provide access to Yoga free of charge to all families in these challenging economic times.

Our children have shown immense growth in their confidence, concentration and balance as a result of their Yoga practice.

SASP Accreditation Award - February 2022

We are really pleased to announce that Pilton Pre-school have been awarded 'Early Years Physical Activity' accreditation by the 'Somerset Activity & Sports Partnership' team. We are really proud that we have been recognised for having a quality provision in Physical Activity.

You can see a picture of us being awarded our accreditation in our Gallery.

Grant for Forest School

We want to say a huge thank you to the Somerset Community Foundation who awarded Pilton Pre-school with a grant to cover the costs of delivering two Forest School sessions a week.

This is such a positive opportunity to deliver these sessions free of charge to our families. The children really enjoy Forest School and the skills they learn from it are invaluable.

Magic Little Grants 2021 - Forest School training

In July 2021, we received a Magic Little Grant through the partnership between Localgiving and Postcode Local Trust.

Postcode Local Trust is a grant-giving charity funded by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Localgiving is the UK’s leading membership and support network for local charities and community groups. Our project received £500 to help with training costs for a member of staff to deliver Forest School sessions within the setting.

The Forest School training has enabled us to lead specific activities and a programme of events that would not have been possible to deliver without a Lv 3 Trained Forest School practitioner.

There are multiple children who have shown immense growth in their confidence, concentration and problem solving skills as they have been allowed to engage with challenging and exciting experiences such as fire building, cooking on the open fire and tool use, which they otherwise would not have been able to experience within the preschool community without the Forest School Practitioner to lead them. The rich conversations and positive communication environment that forest school promotes has enabled some children with speech and language delay to build their confidence in communicating with both peers and adults.

As a result of the Forest School programme, the children have experienced greater awareness of the local area through our frequent nature walks. The setting has built stronger community links with other local groups and organisations becoming part of the ‘Pilton Plants’ group and agreeing to open our gates to the community at a future planned event. We have linked up with the ‘Community Fridge’ to encourage saving food waste. We have been provided with plants and crops by local neighbours and families, and we hope to extend our relationship with the local allotments.

We are grateful to Magic Little Grants, Local Giving, Postcode Local Trust and the players of the People's Postcode Lottery for helping us with this project. You can see some photos of the children enjoying Forest School in our Gallery.
